“You have given me a great gift,” Chief Cameawheat said. This means he is filled up with lots of gratitude for Lewis and Clark. Chief Cameawheat was so happy, that he made sure that that moment would be in the history of Shoshone forever. Before Sacagawea arrived, Chief Cameawheat was super sad that his only sister was snatched during a raid. Ever since then Chief Cameawheat felt pain and agony about his childhood. Overall, Chief Cameawheat feels happy towards her sister if she is with him and the opposite if she is not with him

Another way customs bring people together is when you are celebrating. At these times, people often feel more sentimental, and often more eager to connect and make friends as well. These are just two ways customs and traditions connect people.
Salt was worth a lot, this is due to the fact that the human body needs salt to survive and there was little salt then. Now, we can get salt for very low prices, and at restaurants for free.
Though the use of salt has changed over time, it is still a mineral that is in use today.

Before the accident they both loved sport, “.... especially basketball,” so Richie helped Sadie play again in a wheelchair. Even Richie trained in a wheelchair.
Later, when she thinks Richie is not coming to the game because of his ‘new priorities’, he shows up with a bouquet of flowers for her. “It’s great to have new friends, but I realized you are my best friend.”
Stephanie Kwolek made Kevlar from a polymer mixture in an attempt to develop a material that “was stronger and lighter than steel.”
At first, her colleagues laughed because the polymer mixture looked too watery, but they spun it anyway, and it formed a strong fiber. A decade later Kevlar had been woven into protective clothing and equipment.
Nowadays Kevlar protects police officers and firemen all over the world.
Jamestown was one of the first settlements that had some success. John Smith and the English had settled to start a colony. They overcame attacks from Indians, food scarcity, and unsafe water. The English traded goods for food with locals. John Smith knew that, “an attitude of everyman for himself” was not going to help the colony; they had to work together.
As part of their need to work together they became one of the very first representative governments in the New World.
He had fond memories of Sacagawea. She used to be assertive and had “an irritating habit of following him everywhere”. When she was young, Sacagawea was abducted in a raid on their camp. Then Chief Cameahwait met Lewis and Clark.
Lewis and Clark knew a woman that could speak the Shoshone’s language. Chief Cameahwait instantly recognized the woman as his long-lost sister, Sacagawea!
After the reunion with his sister, Chief Cameahwait was very happy and promised Lewis and Clark that the Shoshone would sing and tell stories about this day, this reunion.
Salt is a mineral necessary for good health. “Without this mineral our cells, nerves and muscles can't do their jobs properly.”
Romans used to value salt so much that they would use it as money; the words ‘salary’ and ‘soldier’ both come from the Latin word for ‘salt’.
Salt is so readily available today that, if anything, people are more likely to use too much. Too much salt causes problems in the same way as too little salt.
Salt remains important for healthy living, however, today it is valued less than in Roman times because it is easily available.

In 1608, John Smith, military man, became head of the colony. He found tribes willing to trade, made friends with Princess Matoaka (Pocahontas), and oversaw the developments of the colony. Pocahontas was also very important to the colony of Jamestown. She saved Smith’s life twice, and without his firm grip on the small town, it would have failed.
She married English planter John Rolfe, being the first marriage in the era between an Englishman and a Native American. They and their son went to London, and Pocahontas fell ill and died on the way back to the town.
Pocahontas and Smith were important to the town, but what makes the town so important? Jamestown was the start of a democracy- a representative government. The settlers there gave a strong formation to build America on. That was why Jamestown, Virginia was very important.
Salt helped develop the first forms of currency. The Romans and other ancient empires used salt as a form of money. No, they didn’t make the salt into dollar bills. Here is another useful quote from the passage. “Salt was so important in the daily lives of the Romans that soldiers were paid in blocks of salt.” Imagine, getting some salt instead of some Ben Franklins in your next paycheck!
Luckily, today we do not use these important little cubes for money, we have a way more reliable money system. But that does not mean that salt has lost its value. Humans enjoy salt on French fries, salads, noodles, just about anything! You still must remember that salt is essential for you to live. However, salt does have uses other than as a seasoning. You can use it to soothe a bee sting, clean pots and pans, or to lower the freezing point of water on a snowy sidewalk. That is how salt has served very different purposes throughout history.

Sadie went over to find her mom expecting a frown on her face but when she came over her mom was smiling when Sadie turned around, she saw her brother holding a bouquet. Richie said to Sadie that it's nice to have a lot of friends, but that Sadie is her best friend. when Richie showed up its motivated Sadie to go back out on the court.
the rest of the game Sadie had the bouquet in her lap and scored points for her team.
although Richie has other priorities now Sadie is still his best friend.
Today people use salt on their food and sometimes as mouth wash when you have a sore mouth. And a little bit of salt is good for the body. A lot has changed from the ancient roam days to today with salt.

In the passage “A Surprise Reunion”, Chief Cameahwait is happy, surprised, and joyful that his sister returned. She was taken when they were young outside by intruders into their camp. She had been gone ever since. One day there was a festival outside in the camp and whites came. They had a Native Indian woman with them to translate. Cameahwait recognized her smile and looks. He new it was her, Sacajawea. His long-lost sister was back, and he was as happy as ever.
Nowadays, salt isn’t like it was in Roman times. In modern times, salt is given away in little packets at restaurants. No one is fighting for it anymore. We have learned to eat salt on a daily basis. We are also paid in money now too. I don’t think anyone has been paid in salt in a long time. All I can say is salt is not like what is was back then.

Stephanie Kwolek invented something to help superheroes such as policemen and firefighters. Her invention was called Kevlar. Kevlar came to be when “the United States was facing a gas shortage” and “scientists wanted to help.” Stephanie’s boss asked her to make a new fiber that would be lighter and use less gas. So that’s exactly what she did. However, the experiment didn't turn out the way she expected. It came out all watery, so Stephanie brought her experiment to a worker. His job was to spin liquids into fibers. He took one close look and started to laugh. He said that her experiment was too wet and that it wasn’t possible to turn it into fiber. She talked him into doing it anyway and sure enough, it did! Stephanie couldn't believe what had happened. She succeeded at turning “her strange liquid” into a strong fiber. “By developing Kevlar, Stephanie helped create protective clothing and equipment that is light and strong.”
There is more to salt than people realize. Salt is a “tiny crystal cube” that

Jamestown, Virginia is an important historical site. Jamestown was founded on April 26, 1607 as the settlers built a fort on the island and named it after their king, James. “Jamestown became the first successful, permanent English settlement in the new world.” When the settlers arrived, water was unsafe to drink, and food was very scarce. “John Smith, a military man, became head of the colony in 1608.” The Algonquin speaking people lived there and John Smith traded with the Indians and later he and the daughter of the chief became friends. Their new representative government was no longer a monarchy, it allowed people to choose leaders that they felt represented them. Jamestown is an important site “since it was the start of a representative government and the settlers gave America a solid base to build on.”
Chief Cameawhait’s sister, Sacagawea, was very special to him. After she was captured, he missed her very much. He tried to stay strong and smiling but deep down he was feeling pain. When he saw the children playing games, he remembered when he and his sister played games together. Even though he hated how irritating she could be, “he loved her strong and assertive manner.” He cared about her a lot and thought about her non-stop. A man named Lewis had his sister traveling with him. When Sacagawea and Lewis arrived to the Shoshone Territory and she recognized her brother, she ran to him with tears. The pain that Cameawhait had carried for so many long years had finally gone when he saw his sister. This tells us that Sacagawea was a big part of his life if he held on for so long to their memories. The day they were reunited was told in stories and sang in songs for generations.
Salt was used very differently by Romans than it is used today. Salt is a mineral also known as “Sodium- Chloride”. Salt is important since human beings can’t survive without it. Salt is found in our tears, sweat, blood, and saliva. If our body has no salt our nerves, cells, and muscles can’t function correctly. The Romans used salt in many ways. The citizens were paid in salt blocks but, now we are payed in cash. Romans built roads used only for transporting salt. Nowadays, we build roads for cars, trucks, and for transporting goods. Romans built villages along the coast so they could harvest salt from the ocean. We don’t need to do that anymore and we have homes all over the place. Romans also kept salt away from other countries during wars. Today, we don’t worry if salt is in warzones. Like the text says, “salt played a role in the history of our country.” The one thing that Romans and the people of today can agree on is that salt is very valuable.

at her game. At first, she was bumping into people during the game, so the coach pulled
her off the court. Also, it said that ``her emotions were all over the place’ ’because she and her
brother got in an argument. They argued because she felt she was not important to him
anymore. She thought he was not going to be at her game that day. But in the end, he
comes to the game and she was able to play well because she was not upset anymore.

fort on an island in a river. The settlement was named Jamestown. The settlement of
Jamestown is important because it is where America was started. At first, the settlers
struggled to survive, and they thought they may run out of food. They also were attacked by
American Indians. We now know that they were assisted by the native Americans because
archaeologists have found artifacts that prove along with stuff found from England native
Americans were also at the site. This is evidence that when people work together our chances
of survival are better.
Sacagawea was stolen as a young girl from her family. He remembers her when he sees the Shoshone
children playing ball. It reminds him of his childhood and that is what brings back the memories.
The story tells us that “Cameahwait could not believe his eyes!” When Lewis and Clark (the explorers)
introduced them. I believe that seeing Sacagawea alive and well, healed all Chief Cameahwati`s pain,
because of this the Shoshone will celebrate by singing and telling stories for many years. Chief
Cameahwait loved his sister so much. Although salt was valuable, it has served many purposes throughout history. Salt is a
crystallized compound. In the Periodic Table of Elements, it is called sodium chloride and is
classified as a mineral. It is also a product of seawater and is important for use as a
preservative. In Roman times they used salt for money. Solders were paid in blocks of salt. Salt
was so important they built roads to transport salt from place to place. People need it to
survive but it must be balanced for good health. According to the article “Why Salt?”, “The
history of the world is overflowing with stories of salt.” Although salt is not used for money
today, it is still is useful for many things.

Dear diary, today Now that I have a real pen, I can write way better. So today was a little different than usual I got to take a 2-hour break. The reason why is because Miguela, the owner went on a date with a boy named Luís. So that meant that Rafaela was in charge, so she let us take a 2- hour break for lunch. She was so much better than Miguela. We also got to have quesadillas for dinner that were so good.
October 19
Dear diary, today Rafaela get so sick she had to stay in bed so now Gabriela was in charge. It was even better that when Rafaela was in charge. We got almost the whole day off. We got to go swimming in the lake after we were done work. We only had to work for 2- hour it was the best day ever. For dinner we had enchiladas they were soooo good, the best dinner I had for a long time.

Dear diary, today was bad. Miguela was back and was in a super bad mood. Luís broke up with her. We had to work for 12 hours with no break. We couldn't even have any food that day. It got even worst, she kicked Rafaela and Gabriela out when she found out they gave us breaks and good food. So now we are back with mean old Miguela. I feel so bad for Rafaela and Gabriela because they are homeless now. So now things are back to normal, like it was at first when Miguela was in charge. So now I know... good things do not last forever

People put it on their food to make it taste better. Also, people (like me) have salt in their pools to keep it clean. Salt is essential for our health. Without salt our muscles, cells and nerves would stop working.
It has been used as an important mineral throughout history. For example, the romans had the most power with salt. They built villages close to the sea where they can harvest salt. They also built a road to transfer the salt. The road is called “Via Salarium.” It’s the oldest road in Italy today! The romans used salt as exchange for goods since it was so valuable.
In conclusion salt is an important mineral used for many things
