Short Response Writings To Prompts 2019-2020

Richie shows that he cares about his sister Sadie. In the story “Sadie’s Game”, Sadie really wants Richie to start coming to her games. Lately, Richie is making friends in his now high school and drives off very often to hang out with his new buddies. Therefore, Sadie wants Richie to start watching her games and starts a big argument with him. Sadie is so upset, her emotions get out of reach and she starts colliding with other wheel chairs in the game. Eventually, and surprisingly, Richie shows up at her sister’s game!
“It’s great to have a lot of new friends, but I realized that you’re my best friend.” Richie says to Sadie. Since Sadie has proof that Richie cares about her, she can actually get her emotions under restraints and starts making lots of shots for her team. Eventually, that is how Richie shows care for his sister.

Stephanie Kwolek invented Kevlar. Kevlar is an important and very useful material. In the United States, there was a huge problem. The country was facing a major gas shortage. “They thought that if you could reinforce, or strengthen, tires with light fiber instead of heavy wire, cars and airplanes would use less gas. By that theory, Kevlar was born. Stephanie Kwolek was assigned on making a new fiber. Eventually, she got a solution. By mixing polymers and spinning the solution into fibers, you get an almost stronger than steel solution! This widely used item has proved itself useful. Kevlar is used by politicians, police officers, and firefighters to keep themselves safe. Overall, Kevlar Is an important material.

The Jamestown site is important. First of all, Jamestown is a town found by the English in 1606. Jamestown was discovered in Virginia and the English named the place after their king, James. Settling in Virginia was very difficult. The crew of the expedition faced many harsh conditions including being attacked by Indians, not having drinking water, and very little to eat. As time progressed, less and less food became available. Eventually, A captain at the name of John Smith found a tribe that was willing to trade food for English items. Pocahontas soon became good friends with John Smith. She even saved John smith’s life twice! Jamestown is a very historic place to visit. Jamestown was the start of a representative government. Representative government means a government where the people vote for a person to express worries and concerns in public. Jamestown was important to many, but mostly it was an omen of the start of a new government.

Chief Cameawheat has strong feelings about Sacagawea. He clearly loves her very much because when she showed up at the Shoshone camp, Chief Cameawheat was overjoyed to see her.
“You have given me a great gift,” Chief Cameawheat said. This means he is filled up with lots of gratitude for Lewis and Clark. Chief Cameawheat was so happy, that he made sure that that moment would be in the history of Shoshone forever. Before Sacagawea arrived, Chief Cameawheat was super sad that his only sister was snatched during a raid. Ever since then Chief Cameawheat felt pain and agony about his childhood. Overall, Chief Cameawheat feels happy towards her sister if she is with him and the opposite if she is not with him

Salt has had many adventures and uses in the world. Salt is a mineral that is also known as Sodium Chloride. Mostly, it is mined from rocks but salt has other ways of showing up. It was once very popular and useful. “Around 2,000 years ago, some of the people with salt-and power-were the Romans,” Now today, people don’t need it as much as they did before it became common. You may be wondering why salt is so useful. Countries like ancient Rome, got plentiful resources of salt. They got their salt from the Mediterranean coast. Therefore, they could access sea water which contains salt. The Romans used salt as currency and to trade with neighboring countries. The romans also used salt to pay their soldiers in the army. Some countries were so obsessed about salt, they even fought wars over it! Romans built a road called Via Salarium, Salt Road, to transport salt all over the continent. Even though salt isn’t as popular as it is now, salt still is a key to war. People still try to keep salt from each other. Two examples of this is The Revolutionary War and The Civil War. Salt now is free! They come in small shakers at restaurants’ and you don’t need to fight wars over salt anymore! Technology has increased the rates of mining salt so it is a common resource now. If you compare and contrast these two uses, you can see the major difference of salt through the years.
Richie shows that he still cares for his little sister. He does this by attending her big basketball game. When Richie started getting older and hanging out with his friends more than her, Sadie was very sad and hurt. She felt as though he was deserting her. Before her game that day, she shouted at him that he did not care about her anymore. Today, she was emotional all during the game. She fouled someone twice. She was out of the game, with next to no hope and nothing but sadness inside her. Suddenly, her Mom beamed and her brother brought confidence back to her. After a few words from her brother, she was right back out on the court, playing with all her happiness. That is how her brother showed how he still cared about her.

Traditions connect people in many different ways. One way they do this when people meet because of a custom they had in common. People will also meet at ceremonies or large gatherings for certain customs and such. One example is that when you are caroling, someone in the group may become your friend. Other situations are when you go to church, or at baptisms. For example, I go to church. One day, I forgot my Book of Mormon. I was so worried that I would not be able to keep up with the lesson, that at first, I didn’t notice the small voice behind me. “You can share my Book of Mormon.” when I whipped around, I realized it was Nina Chen. After that, we became good friends. That is just one example of how traditions connect people.
Another way customs bring people together is when you are celebrating. At these times, people often feel more sentimental, and often more eager to connect and make friends as well. These are just two ways customs and traditions connect people.

Chief Cameahwait misses his sister. He liked how she followed him around. He misses her assertive personality. He is extremely angry at the men who stole her away from him and hates their memory. He is in the middle of feeling bitter, when he is interrupted by visitors. Although he is still fuming, he quickly goes to greet the visitors. These gusts they have are Meriweather Lewis and William Clark. They explain who they are and why they are here. He understands, and they say they have a women who speaks their language fluently. When she walks in, he is overwhelmed by deep joy, and all other feelings leave him. It was his long gone sister, and he smiled so brightly, the sun seemed jealous. Sacagawea. She soon realizes that he is her brother, and greets him warmly. That is how the chief felt about his sister.

Salt has changed over the many years. Now, we think of salt as a seasoning. For us, it is nothing more than what makes our French fries or potato chips taste awesome. But, in the time of the ancient romans, salt was so much more than an object to be put on our gourmet salmon. Salt was a very valuable item, with many uses. For example, salt was used to pay soldiers, for money, and other important things. If someone had large quantity of salt, they also had much power. Roads were constructed, cities made, and wars raged for or because of one thing, salt.
Salt was worth a lot, this is due to the fact that the human body needs salt to survive and there was little salt then. Now, we can get salt for very low prices, and at restaurants for free.
Though the use of salt has changed over time, it is still a mineral that is in use today.
Richie shows that he cares for Sadie by giving her some flowers and by being nice. Also, Richie taught Sadie how to play basketball in a wheelchair. When Richie said, “I'm your best friend.” It made Sadie feel good. So, Richie does care about Sadie.

Stephanie invented Kevlar a fireproof material and its stronger than steel. Stephanie's invention has saved many lives over the years. Now it's used for aircrafts, bikes, skis, and tires. She is now in the inventor hall of fame. Today people like the police, firefighters, and the president which is Donald Trump were protective gear. That is how Stephanie made an impact on the world

The Jamestown Site is important. Jamestown became a settlement in 1607. The town became Virginia’s capitol. 100 years later Williamsburg was Virginia's capitol in 1699. Archaeologists came to Jamestown and started digging. They found rare Indian artifacts. The team found almost 1 million artifacts in the same place. At the town there was a record for greed war, and also that was the start of the representative government. The settlers that lived there gave the United States a solid base. In 1660, people abandoned Jamestown. That is how the Jamestown Is important and known.

Chief Cameahwait misses his sister after she had been taken during a raid. He is the leader of the Shoshone tribe. At the rabbit dance the chief realizes that he misses his sister. After the dance children started playing with a ball the point of the game was if the ball rolled outside a circle a child would have to forfeit a turn. He smiled remembering the games he used to play with his sister he felt pain in his heart missing his little sister. He started picturing his sister following him around. The chief got Lewis and Clark to help him. They were discussing how to help each other when a woman entered the tent and said, “I'm Sacagawea”. After the reunion the people will always pass down the story for generations. The Chief always will love his sister.

Every day we eat something with salt like maybe burgers and fries etc. In the olden days salt was very valuable it was used as money. If you had salt you were almost like a ruler. There is a street called Salt Road. “It is the oldest road in Italy today. “As you might have guessed it was used to transport salt”. People would trade stuff for salt. Roman guards were payed using salt. If we didn’t have salt, we wouldn’t be alive. “Salt is in our tears, sweat, saliva, blood and even I our urine. But if we have a lot of salt in our bodies, we can get kidney problems and many more. Salt is used today in our foods. Salt has been very useful in history.
Richie shows he cares about Sadie through her love of basketball.

Before the accident they both loved sport, “.... especially basketball,” so Richie helped Sadie play again in a wheelchair. Even Richie trained in a wheelchair.
Later, when she thinks Richie is not coming to the game because of his ‘new priorities’, he shows up with a bouquet of flowers for her. “It’s great to have new friends, but I realized you are my best friend.”

Fireproof, bulletproof fabric invented in a lab!"
Stephanie Kwolek made Kevlar from a polymer mixture in an attempt to develop a material that “was stronger and lighter than steel.”
At first, her colleagues laughed because the polymer mixture looked too watery, but they spun it anyway, and it formed a strong fiber. A decade later Kevlar had been woven into protective clothing and equipment.
Nowadays Kevlar protects police officers and firemen all over the world.

The Jamestown archaeological site is important.
Jamestown was one of the first settlements that had some success. John Smith and the English had settled to start a colony. They overcame attacks from Indians, food scarcity, and unsafe water. The English traded goods for food with locals. John Smith knew that, “an attitude of everyman for himself” was not going to help the colony; they had to work together.
As part of their need to work together they became one of the very first representative governments in the New World.

Chief Cameahwait felt sad that his sister was gone, and he missed her a lot.
He had fond memories of Sacagawea. She used to be assertive and had “an irritating habit of following him everywhere”. When she was young, Sacagawea was abducted in a raid on their camp. Then Chief Cameahwait met Lewis and Clark.
Lewis and Clark knew a woman that could speak the Shoshone’s language. Chief Cameahwait instantly recognized the woman as his long-lost sister, Sacagawea!
After the reunion with his sister, Chief Cameahwait was very happy and promised Lewis and Clark that the Shoshone would sing and tell stories about this day, this reunion.

Today salt is very common and is not valued as much as in Roman times.
Salt is a mineral necessary for good health. “Without this mineral our cells, nerves and muscles can't do their jobs properly.”
Romans used to value salt so much that they would use it as money; the words ‘salary’ and ‘soldier’ both come from the Latin word for ‘salt’.
Salt is so readily available today that, if anything, people are more likely to use too much. Too much salt causes problems in the same way as too little salt.
Salt remains important for healthy living, however, today it is valued less than in Roman times because it is easily available.
Richie showed that he cared about Sadie. He does this by giving her some flowers and telling her that no matter how many new friends he got, she would still be his very best friend. “It’s great to have a lot of new friends, but I realized that you’re my best friend.” After Richie says that, Sadie goes back onto the court and plays better than ever, which shows Richie that she got his message and forgives him. That was how Richie shows his little sister that he still cares about her.

Stephanie invented something very important. In the passage “Stephanie Kwolek, Inventor”, it says that her invention was called Kevlar, and it was stronger and lighter than steel, making it more efficient. It was also fireproof, so it became the ideal material for making firefighters’ gear. Politicians, policemen, and their dogs are just a few people who wear Kevlar for its protection purposes. It saves thousands of lives each year. That was why Kevlar, Stephanie Kwolek’s invention is very important.

Jamestown, Virginia was very important. Three ships sailing from England in December, landed on the 16 in 1607, being the first successful, permanent colony in the New World. As soon as they built their fort, disaster struck. Hostile Native Americans attacked, the water was undrinkable, and food was scarce.
In 1608, John Smith, military man, became head of the colony. He found tribes willing to trade, made friends with Princess Matoaka (Pocahontas), and  oversaw the developments of the colony. Pocahontas was also very important to the colony of Jamestown. She saved Smith’s life twice, and without his firm grip on the small town, it would have failed.
She married English planter John Rolfe, being the first marriage in the era between an Englishman and a Native American. They and their son went to London, and Pocahontas fell ill and died on the way back to the town.
Pocahontas and Smith were important to the town, but what makes the town so important? Jamestown was the start of a democracy- a representative government. The settlers there gave a strong formation to build America on. That was why Jamestown, Virginia was very important.

Chief Cameahwait feels strong emotions about his sister, Sacagawea. I believe one emotion is joy. Cameahwait was a Shoshone chief who was the brother of the famous Sacagawea. The story “A Surprise Reunion” states that, “The pain and sadness that Cameahwait had carried over the years retreated to a forgotten place.” In other words, he didn’t feel the sadness he had felt over a period of time about his lost sister, now that she was back. “Cameahwait missed his little sister. She had been snatched from a camp during a raid long ago.” That is why I believe that Cameahwait felt very joyful when he saw Sacagawea again.

Although valuable, salt has served different purpose throughout history. Salt is usually crystalline in nature, though there are many forms of it. It is important to both our bodies, and money system. For solid evidence, here are some quotes from the passage “Why Salt?”. “Our diets, for example, might contain extremely low or extremely high amounts of salt. If this goes on for too long, there could be serious consequences-even death.” Basically, what they’re saying is that salt is a necessary thing in your body. Having too little or too much of it could trigger serious penalties, even death!
Salt helped develop the first forms of currency. The Romans and other ancient empires used salt as a form of money. No, they didn’t make the salt into dollar bills. Here is another useful quote from the passage. “Salt was so important in the daily lives of the Romans that soldiers were paid in blocks of salt.” Imagine, getting some salt instead of some Ben Franklins in your next paycheck!
Luckily, today we do not use these important little cubes for money, we have a way more reliable money system. But that does not mean that salt has lost its value. Humans enjoy salt on French fries, salads, noodles, just about anything! You still must remember that salt is essential for you to live. However, salt does have uses other than as a seasoning. You can use it to soothe a bee sting, clean pots and pans, or to lower the freezing point of water on a snowy sidewalk. That is how salt has served very different purposes throughout history.

Richie shows he cares about Sadie. He shows up during the game. At the start, Sadie made her second foul. She had a fight with her brother, Richie that morning. In Sadie’s Game, it says, “Her emotions were all over the place.” This shows that Sadie feels many different emotions. She could be feeling sad one moment, then the next, angry. Richie had been hanging out with his high school friends more than with Sadie, and she was feeling left out. She saw her mother after she made that foul, but instead of disappointment, she saw her mother smiling. Sadie followed her mother’s eyes, and saw Richie walking down the court! He handed her a bouquet of flowers, and then says he realized Sadie was his best friend. After his words of encouragement, Sadie stole the ball from the other team, then dribbled it over to the net. She took the shot, making one of the first amazing shots for her team!

Stephanie Kwolek invented a very important item. This item is Kevlar, a fireproof material. Kevlar is also stronger and lighter than steel. Police, police dogs, and firefighters use Kevlar. Politicians also use Stephanie’s invention to stay safe. Kevlar saved countless lives. Stephanie’s invention is important because it protects people, and even saves lives!

Jamestown was an important part of our history. Jamestown, named after the English king James, is located in Chesapeake Bay, Virginia. Jamestown was important because it was the first successful English settlement. Jamestown left a path of greed and war, but it was the start of our strong government. Today our government helps to keep stability in our state. The government has lots of power, and they use it to keep us safe and healthy. That is why Jamestown is important to our history.

Chief Cameahwait had a strong bond with his sister. The Shoshone chief, Cameahwait, was kind and caring for his tribe. My opinion is that Chief Cameahwait loves his sister, Sacagawea. When they were young, Sacagawea was taken during a raid. Cameahwait longed to see her since then. Sacagawea, as a young girl, had been demanding and assertive. That was what Cameahwait remembered about his long-lost sister. I also believe that the chief remembered all the games they played together when they were younger. Seeing the children playing reminded him of Sacagawea, and he felt a piercing pain, almost like a knife stabbing him. Chief Cameahwait and Sacagawea have a very powerful connection with each other.

Salt has served many purposes during history. Salt is a white crystalline substance which flavors and seasons food. However, salt wasn’t always used for just that. In Ancient Rome, many years ago, salt was used as a form of pay. On the other hand, today, our pay is money, not the small crystal known as salt. Back then, people had wars over salt, while today we have wars over land and conflicts between countries. Ancient Roman people with salt had power. These people built roads to transfer salt from one place to another. Currently, roads are used for trucks and cars. “Around the world, cities were founded, roads were built, wars were fought, and trade routes were established, all for one reason: humans can’t live without salt.” Salt is a very valuable mineral, and serves a very important purpose!
Sadie had a basketball game and her brother Richie couldn't show up. during the game, Sadie had to sit out because she ran into other players 2 times on the court.
Sadie went over to find her mom expecting a frown on her face but when she came over her mom was smiling when Sadie turned around, she saw her brother holding a bouquet. Richie said to Sadie that it's nice to have a lot of friends, but that Sadie is her best friend. when Richie showed up its motivated Sadie to go back out on the court.
the rest of the game Sadie had the bouquet in her lap and scored points for her team.
although Richie has other priorities now Sadie is still his best friend.

I feel that Chief Cameahwait loves his sister a lot and without his sister he was sad. Chief Cameahwait hated the people who took his sister. But, Chief Cameahwait had a tribe to run and it was time for “Hawk-that-soars" to ride for the Shoshone people. Then, Lewis and Clark came to the Shoshone people for help. They had met Sacagawea and were with her. When Chief Cameahwait saw that they had Sacagawea with them his eyes filled with tears and so did Sacagawea they both came rushing over to each other so happy to see each other again. If Lewis and Clark were to never have gone on that expedition Sacagawea and Chief Cameahwait would have never reunited. Chief Cameahwait and Sacagawea were now together and he was happy.

The use of salt in the ancient roam times was used as money and people who had salt had a lot of power. Salt was also used to pay taxes.
Today people use salt on their food and sometimes as mouth wash when you have a sore mouth. And a little bit of salt is good for the body. A lot has changed from the ancient roam days to today with salt.

Richie cares about Sadie. I know this because Richie and Sadie used to be very very close, but after richie went to high school things changed. One example is richie would make sadie get up and would borrow a wheelchair to make her feel good and would teach her how to play basketball after she couldn’t use her legs, but when he went to high school instead of playing basketball with her he would wash her car and sadie would feeel sad because she thought he didn’t care about her, and that led to their fight. In the fight they stated “ Why cant you be at my game richie? Don’t I matter to you anymore” which caused her to keep bumping into wheelchairs because she couldn’t stop thinking of that. Then richie ended up coming and saying ‘Its great to have a lot ofnew friends, but I realiz

Stephanie Kwolek invented Kevlar. Kevlar is a fiber that is spun from liquid and turned into a fireproof material Fire fighters, police officers, and Lumberjacks all wear to stay safe. Kevlar is a life saver!

The Jamestown Site is important. The Jamestown Site is important because it was the first successful permanent English settlement. Jamestown was named after the settlers’ king James. One saying they used was “ignorance is bliss,” which was actually true for the people that were on the trip. After immigrants had arrived they got attacked by about two hundred Indians. Now William Kelso, a expert in archeology is digging up all kinds of artifacts. Infact, him and his team have dug up more than one million artifacts. It wasn’t easy and I know this because it took ten years to dig up all those artifacts ! Some of the things he found are Indian artifacts and English artifacts. One thing William said was “ It must have been a very close relationship. In conclusion this is why the Jamestown site is a very important part of history.

Chief Cameahwait is happy about his sister, Sacagawea. I Know this because in the beginning of “a Surprise Reunion,” it states “ Cameahwait missed his little sister. She had been snatched from camp during a raid long ago. “. After Chief was done thinking about his sister a man named Captain Lewis Approached him, he had come to the island in peace and he said that he and his group were exploring around the Missouri river and the great ocean. Then they started to discuss how they were going to help each other. Captain Lewis said that they had come with a woman who spoke their language. Then a woman with long braids in her hair entered, as she entered adjusting to the light she said “I am Sacagawea,” Cameahwait examined her, tears filled his eyes and all the pain went away Sacagawea ran to him as tears filled her eyes too, at last Chief Cameahwait found his lost sister! In conclusion Chief felt amazing to see his sister again!

During the ancient roman times, a certain type of white mineral named Sodium Chloride or salt for short was very valuable to people. Salt was very hard to find, and very important for your diet. But, be careful too much salt could cause high blood pressure and get blood clots. On the other hand, too little salt can make you feel nauseous and have muscle cramps. This mineral was likes diamonds to the romans and some people even got paid with salt! Nowadays we can get salt at a local grocery store or even in a packet of utensils.

Richie showed that he cares about his sister Sadie. He showed that because first of all, Sadie and Richie had a fight in the morning. Though, he still showed up to Sadie’s game. I believe Richie showed up to Sadie’s game because he thought he spends too little time with his sister, Sadie, and spends a lot more time with his friends. Richie can also spend little time with his friends, considering Sadie his friend. I believe this is how Richie showed he cares about his sister, Sadie.

Stephanie invented something and it is important. When Stephanie went to Textile Lab, she decided to stay there once she raised enough money for medical school because she really enjoyed it there. After a while, Stephanie discovered a type of liquid, and somehow turned it into a thread! That thread is called Kevlar. This type of thread is light but is very strong. It is useful for many things. For example, kevlar is used by firefighters, because it is very useful for them. Also, kevlar is used in racing cars. My thoughts about kevlar is that it could be useful for a lot of things, but I also don’t understand how Stephanie could turn a liquid into a thread. Overall, I think that kevlar is a very useful material because it protects very well and is very useful.

The Jamestown site is important. Firstly, you could find Indian and American artifacts. Though, in my opinion I don’t really understand why they are so important. Secondly, Kelso has worked for 10 years to document this site. Also, his team has managed to find more than a million artifacts. “Jamestown left a record of greed and war, but it was also the start of representative government.” Overall, I don’t understand why Jamestown was and is still important. Well, artifacts seem pretty important. This is why the Jamestown site is important.

Chief Cameahwait cares about his sister. Chief Cameahwait feels relieved about seeing his sister. He hasn’t seen his sister for a very long time so he misses her more than he usually would. Chief Cameahwait felt pain when he thought about her before he saw her again. He loved her very strongly. Since Lewis and Clark went on an expedition at that time, they brang along a woman.” Cameahwait could not believe his eyes!”. He saw his sister again. When they both saw each other, they ran to each other with tears in their eyes. Cameahwait was so relieved to see his sister again. This is how I know that he really cares for his sister and missed her

The value of salt is different today than it was in ancient Roman times. Salt was very valuable about 2,000 years ago. They said,” People with salt have power.” Humans can’t live without salt, but if you eat too much it can be dangerous. As early humans on the planet learned to grow vegetables, and eat less meat, they had to find more salt, because meat contains salt. However, it was really hard to find. Though, today you can buy salt cheap at a grocery store. This is how the value of salt is different than how it was in ancient Roman times.

Richie shows Sadie he cares about her by getting her up out of bed to start playing basketball again after her accident. He would put himself in a wheelchair and they would pass, dribble and zip down the court together. Richie tells Sadie she is his best friend and supports her by going to watch her play.

Stephanie Kwolek is an inventor who invented the fiber Kevlar. The fiber Kevlar is fireproof and stronger and lighter than steel. Stephanie’s invention Kevlar was designed by experimenting with different polymer mixtures and solutions. Its protective wear helps protect our heroes like police and firemen even the president. Kevlar has saved many lives over the years.

Settlers sailed from England to Chesapeake Bay, Virginia where they built a fort on an island on a river. They named it Jamestown after their king. The settlers were attacked by Indians, John Smith was in charge. They all worked together and started trading food and water. Pocahontas and John smith became friends she also was the daughter of chief Powhatan who ruled the people in the western Chesapeake area. Archaeologist worked hard for ten years to find artifacts that Indians and English settlers had a very close relationship. Today we know about the history and ancestors of our English settlers and Indians because of their past relationship.

Chief Cameahwait and his Shoshone tribe celebrate traditions like dance to remember their ancestors. Chief Cameahwait feels pain because he lost his sister, she was snatched from camp long ago. He met a man named Captain Lewis. Lewis’s group was to explore land between the Missouri River and the great ocean. Captain Lewis needed a favor, he needed a supply boat to cross the land to exchange goods and in return Captain Lewis brought a translator named Sacagawea. Sacagawea is Chief Cameahwaits long lost sister. I believe Chief Cameahwait and Sacagawea had a beautiful reunion, they sang and told stories so all will remember this day they were reunited.
Richie showed that he cares about his younger sister, Sadie. First, he would always care for her by practicing with her. Also, he even sat in a wheelchair while they played a game in respect for Sadie and he wouldn’t have any advantages. During Sadie’s basketball game, he interrupted the time with his small priorities, high school friends and his car, to come watch his number one friend play a big game. At the end of the story to show how much Richie means to Sadie, her face lit up in joy when she saw her big brother coming toward her with a bundle of flowers. The flowers were just a bonus which were on her lap while she was playing to show that she cares just as Richie cares for her. At the end of the story, to show how much Richie means to Sadie, her face lit up in cheer when she saw her big brother in the crowd coming to her with a big bundle of flowers that he didn’t need to bring. Overall, Richie is very caring and sweet, not only when Sadie’s sad, mad, or even n a basketball game.

Stephanie invented an important invention. She invented Kevlar. Kevlar is a protective suit. It helps police officers and their dog, firemen, tires, bicycles, spacecrafts, and skies. Inside Kevlar, there is spun fibers. At first in the process in making the fibers, the mixture was too much like liquid instead of a thick texture. This invention is very important because “The President and other politicians stay safe.” this invention truly made an impact on a lot of people and things.

The Jamestown site is important. Jamestown is in Virginia and it was the beginning of a new land. Jamestown is important because the settlers of America said that it gave them a “solid base to build upon” it was the foundation of America. The new settlers started with nothing then made a colony. Also, the Native Americans helped. They were friendly and welcomed them, though there were some wars. The leader, John Smith, was saved by the Native American’s chief’s daughter multiple times. At the end of the passage, it says that they were the start of the representative government. A representative governor is someone who represents a government. That being said, Jamestown is truly an important part of America’s history.

In the passage “A Surprise Reunion”, Chief Cameahwait is happy, surprised, and joyful that his sister returned. She was taken when they were young outside by intruders into their camp. She had been gone ever since. One day there was a festival outside in the camp and whites came. They had a Native Indian woman with them to translate. Cameahwait recognized her smile and looks. He new it was her, Sacajawea. His long-lost sister was back, and he was as happy as ever.

The use of potatoes spread to other countries. First, the article states that potatoes are native to the Andes Mountain. Andes Mountain is region to South America. The first people to eat the potato are known as Incas. They were ancient. Potatoes are very a wonderful food source. Vitamins and energy are both provided inside the spectacular vegetable. In the 1500’s, explorers to that region, who were Spanish, came across the potato. During the 1600’s, in Spain, potatoes were growing everywhere! Another great thing about the beige vegetable is that it can cure diseases like medicine. In the beginning of the 1700’s, potatoes started being grown in England as food. Later, potatoes were told to New England and North America by Ireland and England immigrants. Today, we know potatoes as world traveling, tasty, and healthy vegetables that millions can enjoy.

The value of salt today is different than it was in Roman times. Salt in an important mineral humans need to live. Too much salt is bad, and too little salt is not good either. In Roman times, salt was like money. Soldiers were given salt as a salary. That is where the word soldier came from. It means “to give salt”. Also, there is a road named Via Salarium. That means “Salt Road”. That road was used transport salt. Back then, salt came in the meat we ate. But as people started growing crops, salt became what everyone wanted.
Nowadays, salt isn’t like it was in Roman times. In modern times, salt is given away in little packets at restaurants. No one is fighting for it anymore. We have learned to eat salt on a daily basis. We are also paid in money now too. I don’t think anyone has been paid in salt in a long time. All I can say is salt is not like what is was back then.

Richie shows that he cares about his younger sister after they have an argument. “Why won't you be at my game, Richie?” Sadie asked her brother. “Don't I matter to you anymore?” Richie has new high school friends and is always busy with washing his new car. He never has time to spend with Sadie or come to her games. This makes Sadie feel really down. But at one game, when it's the second quarter, and when Sadie’s sitting out, Richie comes along and gives Sadie a nice bouquet of flowers. Then he said, “It's great to have a lot of new friends, but I realized that you’re my best friend.” This made Sadie smile. “Those words meant more to her than ‘I’m sorry’ ever could.” Sadie held the beautiful bouquet her brother had given her in her lap for the rest of the game. “Then she dribbled her way to the net, making the first of many amazing shots for the team.” Her brother’s kindness made her play better than she had ever played before.

Stephanie Kwolek invented something to help superheroes such as policemen and firefighters. Her invention was called Kevlar. Kevlar came to be when “the United States was facing a gas shortage” and “scientists wanted to help.” Stephanie’s boss asked her to make a new fiber that would be lighter and use less gas. So that’s exactly what she did. However, the experiment didn't turn out the way she expected. It came out all watery, so Stephanie brought her experiment to a worker. His job was to spin liquids into fibers. He took one close look and started to laugh. He said that her experiment was too wet and that it wasn’t possible to turn it into fiber. She talked him into doing it anyway and sure enough, it did! Stephanie couldn't believe what had happened. She succeeded at turning “her strange liquid” into a strong fiber. “By developing Kevlar, Stephanie helped create protective clothing and equipment that is light and strong.”

Learning about the past can help you understand the present and gives you good information about what you are trying to learn. Jamestown is important because it became the first successful and permanent English settlement in the New World. William Kelso was “an expert in early American archaeology” whose team “managed to uncover more than 1 million artifacts.” He also “discovered Indian artifacts along with English ones, evidence that Indians lived in the fort.” Jamestown was also the start of a representative government which “gave America a solid base to build upon.” This makes Jamestown very important!

I believe that Chief Cameahwait, leader of the Shoshone tribe, loved his sister very much. “He loved her strong, assertive manner.” When Chief Cameahwait was reunited with his sister, Sacagawea, he was so overcome with joy that he promised Lewis and Clark that he would provide whatever help and resources they needed. Once he was reunited with his sister, he wanted all of his people to “sing and tell stories so that all may remember and honor this day for generations to come.” I think this shows that Chief Cameahwait cared deeply about his sister.

There is more to salt than people realize. Salt is a “tiny crystal cube” that
“human beings can't live without.” Because of this fact, “people who had salt had power.” The Romans are a great example of this. Salt was so valuable to the Romans that they would pay their soldiers with it. “This pay was called salarium argentums or ‘salt money,’ giving us our word salary.” Today, salt is mainly used for flavoring our food. But just because salt is cheap and easy to get now, it’s still just as valuable as it was in the Roman days. Salt is not only an important part of our bodies but of our history.
Richie cares for Sadie. He shows this by caring. First, he played with Sadie. Also, he didn't go with his friends, but instead came to Sadie's basketball game as well as giving her flowers. Richie didn't care if she won or not but he would rather be with Sadie than his high school friends. That's how Richie cares for Sadie.

Stephanie invented a strong material called Kevlar. She started creating a fabric to reduce the amount of gas that was used, because the U.S was facing a gas shortage. So, Stephanie made a fabric called Kevlar that was developed to reinforce tires with a light fiber so cars and airplanes would use less gas. Another reason this fabric is important, is because it is lighter than steel and is fireproof. These various reasons make Kevlar the clothing politicians, the president, and many more people wear to stay safe. Kevlar is also used as body armor for luxury and military vehicles. That is how Stephanie Kwolek invented the strong fabric, Kevlar.

The Jamestown, Chesapeake Bay site is important. First, this site is part of our history. When they arrived, they named it Jamestown, based off the name of their king, James. Also, Jamestown was the first successful permanent English settlement in what would be the United States. Next, Jamestown was the start of representative government. Representative government is when people can vote. Lastly, settlers granted America a solid base to build and work off from to make a community. That was how Jamestown, in Chesapeake Bay, is important.

Chief Cameahwait is happy to be with his sister again. First, Chief was the leader of the Shoshone tribe and the Shoshone people. Also, he was incensed by the people who had taken his sister. A few days earlier, a man named Captain Lewis had come to complete a mission: explore the land in the middle of Missouri River and the great ocean. Since they didn't understand each other's language, Captain Clark had brought Sacagawea, a girl who understood the words of both languages, to talk to Chief Cameahwait. When Chief came, he was speechless. It was his long-lost sister. That was how I think Chief Cameahwait was delighted to be reunited with his sister.
In the story, "Sadie's Game", Richie shows in many ways that he cares about his younger sister Sadie. Sadie had a bad accident which put her in a wheelchair. Richie taught her to play basketball again, a game that they both loved. It was hard for her to play basketball again, so Richie would sit in his own wheelchair and practice with her, making her feel normal. Sadie had trouble waking up in the mornings because she was depressed. Because of this, Richie would bully her, in a good way, to help her get her day started. Finally, on Sadie's big game day, Richie shows up to the game with a bouquet of flowers to show her his love. Most importantly in the story, he tells her she is truly his best friend, making her feel loved and cared for.

Stephanie Kwolek invented Kevlar, a lightweight fabric that is stronger than steel. Kevlar is created from spinning different solutions and polymer mixtures until it makes form and is then turned into material. The fabric can be used to make lots of things stronger, lighter, and better: clothing, tires, bicycles, spacecraft, helmets, gloves, vests, and even skis. Kevlar is fireproof and is also stronger and lighter then heavy steel. It is used and worn by: politicians, firefighters, police officers, astronauts, and also the President of the United States. Stephanie Kwolek's great invention of Kevlar made the idea of wearing and using steel for many purposes and people, a reality come true.

Jamestown, an island in Virginia, was an important site for history. In 1608, John Smith founded a tribe on the island, and became friends with Princess Pocahontas. Jamestown was also an important site for archaeology because there was over more than 1 million artifacts and a burial ground discovered. Lastly, representative government, the foundation of our current system was put into motion. The Jamestown site was a big contribution for American History.

Cameahwait, Chief of the Shoshone tribe, was reunited with his long lost sister, Sacagawea. She was kidnapped at an early age in a raid. I feel that the Chief had many mixed emotions about losing his sister, and hid how hurt he really was. When introduced to her by Captain Lewis, many years later, he immediately recognized her. I believe that he loved her very much and was very happy to have his sister back again.
Richie shows that he cares about his younger sister. First, Richie shows her how to play basketball after her accident. Then, he started hanging out with his friends instead of supporting Sadie and her basketball game. Sadie felt disappointed and sad that her brother wasn’t supporting her. She started playing and she got three fouls, so she was taken out of the game. She was sitting in her wheelchair thinking about how her brother wasn’t supporting her and she was even taken out of the game which disappointed her. Then, her brother came up to her with flowers and apologized for the way he was acting. He said, It’s great to have a lot of new friends, but I realized you’re my best friend. This made a smile appear on her face. She stepped back into the game and with her brother encouraging her she dribbled past everybody and scored. In the end, Richie was the best brother Sadie could ask for.

Stephanie’s invention is important in people's day to day life. This product is called Kevlar. Kevlar is material that is fireproof, light, and stronger than steal. Kevlar is used by many people around the world like firefighters, politicians, and the police. Without this brand many problems would be made. Overall, Kevlar, an amazing brand, has saved many lives.

The Jamestown site is important in many ways. Jamestown, Virginia was the start of Representative government. John Smith, a part of the military, is the head of the colony, and one of his friends, Pocahontas also did great things like him. Also, Jamestown became a permanent settlement in the New World. Overall, Jamestown is a place where history is made.

Although valuable, salt has served many purposes throughout history. Salt is harvested from the sea and is important for people's health. During the Roman times salt was used for eating and was used to pay somebody for working. During the present we do not pay somebody with salt as money. We play with pay with dollar bills. In the text it says, “Salt was so important in the daily lives of Romans that soldiers were paid in blocks of salt.” Early humans survived since the meat they hunted already had lots of salt in it. Then they started to grow more vegetables which had less salt which made it hard to get salt in their diets. Now it easy to have salt in our food. Back then they even had roads to transport salt while today we don't have any road like that. Also, salt back then and now is valuable in many ways. Overall, salt has been a big part of our history.
Richie showed that he cares about his younger sister, Sadie. In the story, Richie shows he cared because he bought a used wheelchair to practice playing with Sadie after her accident. This shows that he cares because he used the wheelchair so he could be like her. Another way he showed he cares about Sadie is he brought flowers to her game and told her she was his best friend. This shows he cares about her because he told her something that mean more to her than I’m sorry ever could. Richie is a caring, kind, nice brother.

Stephanie's invention is very important. Stephanie invention is called ‘’kelar” it is a fiber , found that it is fireproof ,stronger and lighter than steel and also ,could be turned into a useful material. In the passage ‘’it says that kelar is widely used. The president and other politicians stay safe wearing protective kelar clothing so do firefighters and police office. Kelar is also use in tires, bicycles, spacecraft and skis this shows this material is important because this material is lighter. This supports Stephanie kwolek Invention because it saves many peoples life's from dangerous things like fire. This is why Stephanie Kwolek invention is important.

Jamestown site is important. Jamestown site is important because it started a representative government for the new settlers. In the passage it said ‘’The settlers built a fort on a island in a river Jamestown became the first successful, permeant English settlement in the New world. "This means that people lived together and made a community the community is still here today. This is why Jamestown is important.

Chief Cameahwait loves his sister. Chief Cameahwait is a American Indian and the chief of Shoshone camp tribe .When they were younger his sister was taken from the Shoshone tribe and they were separated for many years. Chief Cameahwait can only remember that ‘’She had an irritating habit of following him everywhere , he remembered, and she had been very demanding ‘’. Later in the story Lewis and Clark brought in a translator and it was his long-lost sister he said “A woman who had dark brown braids entered the tent. As her eyes adjusted to the dim light, she nodded to the chief. I am Sacagawea she said. CHief Cameahwait could not believe his eyes ‘’it was his sister.” This show he loved his sister because he remembered her after all this time he was away. He was so happy to see her. The Chief loved his sister very much

Although valuable, salt has several different purposes throughout history. Salt is a mineral. All living things need salt. Without salt, the inside of your body will not work. The article , WHY SALT, tells us the things that have salt in your body is your ‘’tears, sweat, saliva, blood, and even your urine ‘’. Today salt seems not important. It is on every table when we go to restaurants. We even throw away the free little packets that are given to us when we get takeout. Along time ago things were different with salt. It was hard to get salt but people knew it was important to their bodies. In the passsage, WHY SALt, the author told us that “around the world, cities were founded, roads were built, wars were fought, and trade routes were established, all for one reason: humans can’t live without salt.” This shows that salt was the very powerful. It was even used as money. Soldiers were paid in salt. Today soldiers are paid with real money. As time has past, people knew how to get salt more easily. Now our world doesn’t base evertyhing on salt like we did 2,000 years ago. Salt is still important today, just a little different then what we learned from history.
Richie shows that he cares about his younger sister Sadie. First, he taught her how to play basketball again after her big accident. He borrowed a wheelchair for himself to play basketball with Sadie, which shows that he cares about her. Then, Richie came to Sadie’s game and gave her flowers. This encouraged Sadie because Richie said she was his best friend. All of these things mean that Richie cares about Sadie.

Stephanie Kwolek is a famous inventor who is in the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
She invented Kevlar. Kevlar is a light fiber material that is stronger than steel, fireproof and
Bulletproof! The reason Kevlar is so important is because it protects heroes like police officers and
and firefighters. Scott’s dad and Michael’s dad are some of these heroes because they are
firemen. Stephanie Kwolek has made an important invention that has saved the lives of many
people.

Jamestown was the very first English town located in Virginia. When the English first arrived on April 26, 1607, they made a fort on an island. They named the fort after King James. The English had trouble surviving because the water was unsafe to drink and food was scarce. And Jamestown was attacked by 200 American Indians! John Smith was in charge of the colony starting in 1608. Pocahontas was an Indian princess who saved John Smith’s life twice. She married an English planter named John Rolfe. That was the first time an American Indian married an Englishman. Jamestown is important because it was the start of representative government. That means the citizens vote for which leader that they want. Jamestown was an important part of the history of America.

Chief Cameahwait had a strong connection with his sister. I know this because the Chief was
really sad that she got kidnapped. In the third paragraph of the story “A Surprise Reunion”, it
says “But beneath his smile was pain, Cameahwait missed his little sister. She had been
snatched from camp during a raid long ago.” He was sad when he was watching the kids play a
game with a ball. I think it reminded him of the times when he used to play with her. Chief
Camehwait loved that his sister was strong and assertive. Finally, the Chief saw his sister again.
He said, “You have reunited me with my beloved sister. You have given me a great gift.”
All of this writing shows that Camehwait had a strong connection and a lot of love for his sister.

Salt has had many important uses in Roman times and today. Salt is made of little white cubes that are very flavorful. Salt is important because it helps our bodies and we can’t live without it. In ancient times, “people who controlled salt had power.” The Romans used salt for money, and they built roads to transport salt. Salt even caused wars. Today salt is still used to make our food flavorful. We also use salt to melt ice on roads. In closing, salt has had a huge role in history and still is valuable today.
This story shows that Richie cares for Sadie in lots of ways. Richie shows he cares about his sister because he shows up to her basketball game and gives her a bouquet of flowers. Also, on page 273 it shows how much he cares because he says "what I know is you're like a whirlwind on the court always moving." Thats how I know that he cares about Sadie.

Stephanie Kwolek was a scientist and invented something that people still use today. Stephanie was a scientist and she invented a fabric called Kevlar that fire fighters and police use because the fabric is fireproof and bulletproof. This fabric is important because it’s fireproof so when someone like a fire fighter is saving someone or something from a fire, they won’t get hurt when they’re in the fire. Police use it because its bulletproof so in case that get shot at, they won’t get injured. The reasons above are why I think Kevlar is important, and it’s all because of Stephanie Kwolek the inventor

The Jamestown site is important for many reasons. The first reason is because it was the first English settlement in the new world. The archaeologist William Kelso has found over 1 million artifacts. These artifacts help tell the story of the settlers and Indians. Jamestown was the start of representative government. These are just a few of the reasons why Jamestown is important.

Salt is used differently today than it was used in Roman times.
First, Roman, In Roman times
salt was used for
money
. Salt is important because you could die without salt.
It was hard to
find and that’s what made it valuable.
Lastly, Now, now days we use salt for putting on are

Those were the different was people used salt.
Richie showed how much he cares for Sadie. Richie has showed just how much he cares for her by giving her flowers. Also, since Richie said, “It’s great to have lot of new friends, but I realize you’re my best friend”. And that sentence meant even more than sorry to Sadie. It shows just how much Richie cares for Sadie.

Stephine's invention is important because it has saved many people. This fiber was called Kevlar. It saved so many people since in the passage it is stronger and lighter than steel. A lot of people use Kevlar today. Stephine's invention is important.

Salt has served different purposes throughout history. Salt is important its important because its money. And people need money to buy needs like food and water. It's also important to eat enough salt “Salt is in our tears, sweat, and in your blood”. People used salt to build villages and that gave them the ocean to harvest salt. But today we use salt on fries, eggs, and more. Salt has many uses.
Richie show that he cares about his young sister, Sadie. How did he care is that he came to Sadie game because he cares about her, but he was suppost to go to the job, and he gave her a flower to make her feel like she is queen. He said, “ My new priorities is Sadie. This is how Richie cares about Sadie.

Stephanie invent and she is important today. That’s because she made racing car and the suit called Kevlar. Stephanie made Racing car’s engine and tire that it will gonna get protective. She made engine with weird liquid. Of the liquid, the racing car got fast. On the suit called Kevlar, it is used for police, police dog, firefighter, president, and politician. It is used because Kevlar is protective and strong, so it means it can work as making people safe. Kevlar is also used as tires, bicycles, spacecraft, and skis. That’s why tires, bicycles, spacecraft, and skis are protective. This is what Stephanie did and why is it important.

The Jamestown site is important. That’s because they made America a good place to live. Pocahonta (Princess Matoaka) saved Captain John Smith, so John Smith was saved and got a better life. Pocahonta saved Captain John Smith twice. Pocahonta married with John Rolfe. On 1617, Pocahonta died by fell ill on ship back. Today, Dr. William Kelso is digging a hole to find archeology of four hundred three years ago’s. This is why the Jamestown site is important.

Chief Cameahwait feel about his sister. He feels happy about a woman that chief saw his little sister, but chief was surppost to to go to difficult land. The value and uses of salt are different today and they were ancient Roman times. The salt is soldium chloride. It is important because we use salt for many different things. An ancient Roman times, salt was used to preserve foods, and it was so valuable that sometimes soldiers were payed with salt instead of money. We still use salt to make food taste better, but we also need it to survive. Salt is also used for agriculter and in factory. These are salt was in the past and the present. It is important for how we live.

Richie showed that he cares about his younger sister, Sadie.
At first, they had an argument about Richie comingto her basketball game
He did not come.
Next, Richie felt bad and came.
Lastly, Sadie had enough confidence to win the game.

Stephanie Kwolek, a inventor, made something that was very important to our world. She invented Kevlar. Kevlar is a fire proof vest. Firefighters, police officers and even police dogs wear Kevlar. This invention has also been used in tires, bicycles, spacecrafts, and skis because it is so lightweight and strong. Kevlar has saved many lives, and is still used today.

The Jamestown site is very important. It’s important because this is where people can find out more about Jamestown and how it has affected our country. One reason the Jamestown site is so important is because it was the start of representative goverment. Another reason is due to the English and Indian Artifacts found by Archaeologist William Kelso. Dr. Kelso and his team found more than one million artifacts and with those discoveries, they were able to map out the fort and a burial ground. These findings have told a very interesting story about the past. This is why the Jamestown site is important.

Chief Cameahwait, a Shoshone Indian, was so happy to see his sister after so many years. A long time ago, Chief Cameahwait’s little sister Sacagawea was captured in a raid. He was very sad and wanted his sister back. Years after her disappearance, Cameahwait was approached by a man named Captain Lewis who wanted to barter with the Shoshone Tribe. When Chief Cameahwait arrived at Lewis’s camp, they all went into a tent to discuss their plan. A woman who knew the Shonshone language came into the tent. It was Sacagawea, Chief Cameahwait’s long lost little sister. They were finally reunited. Cameahwait was filled with so many emotions, but mostly happiness and joy.

The value of salt is different today than it was in ancient Roman times. In Rome, it was so valuable they used to pay soldiers with blocks of salt. Today, we use paper money for payment. Historically around the world, governments used to regulate and tax salt. Today, we can go to the grocery store any time we want and buy as much salt as we need. In Roman times, salt was so valuable, they built roads to transport salt along the Mediterranean as well as built villages to find salt. Today, we can easily find salt packets in restaurants. This is how the value of salt was different 2000 years ago from how it is today.

Richie shows that he cares about his sister, Sadie. At the start Sadie is upset that Richie won't come to her basketball games and play with her, but instead hangs out with his new friends. But when Richie comes to her big game with flowers for Sadie instead of playing with his new friends it shows Sadie that he cares about her and that she feels so good that she plays the rest of the game with the flowers in her lap.

Stephanie Kwolak invented an important item. The important item she invented was Kevlar. Kevlar is a strong, fire-proof, material. It is important because it keeps many people from harm, people such as the president, firefighters, police, and other politicians. It is also important because it has saved many lives over the years. That is what Stephanie Kwolak invented and why it is important.

Overall, Chief Cameawheat feels happy towards her sister if she is with him and the opposite if she is not with him.

Although valuable, salt has served different purposes throughout history. Salt is a little cube of substance, it's important because it has been used for many different things in our history. In Roman times salt was used as power. "Salt was so important in the daily lives of the Romans that soldiers were paid in blocks of salt." Today, salt is used to make food or to cook food that many people love like fries. That is why salt is important.
Richie shows that he cares about his little sister by saying confident things to her. He is nice to her, doesn’t making fun of her and supports her. Richie is her best friend and loves her. In the text on page 273 Richie says a lot of thing that boosts her confidence, like ‘’ What I know is you’re like a whirlwind on the court, always moving. There is no way I am going to miss your big game! Another way is Richie brought flowers to the game.
This is how Richie shows that he cares about his little sister, Sadie

Stephanie invented Kevlar a fiber stronger and lighter than steel. ‘’The President and other politicians stay safe wearing Kevlar clothing.’’ ‘’Kevlar is also used for tires bicycles spacecraft and skis.’’ ‘’By developing Klever Stephanie helped create protective clothing and equipment that is light and strong’’. Stephanie's invention has saved many lives. Kevlar is also bulletproof so it can help anybody in the military. These are all good reasons why Stephanie's invention is important.

Chief Cameahwait had a strong connection with his sister. I know this because the Chief was

says “But beneath his smile was pain, Cameahwait missed his little sister. She had been

All of this writing shows that Camehwait had a strong connection and a lot of love for his sister.
Richie showed that he cared a lot about his sister. Towards the end of the story Sadie tells us that she and her brother got in a fight. At that point, Sadie was sad, but then at her basketball game Richie ran towards her with a bouquet of beautiful flowers. Richie told Sadie that she is more important than any of his friends and that he realized that she is his best friend. This showed that he cares for her since he gave up spending time with his friends to watch her game. He chose to do something that was important to his sister over having fun on his own. Richie is a loving, caring, and generous big brother.

Stephanie Kwolek invented Kevlar. Many people today use it today. Kevlar is an important fiber since it is used to protect people and animals. Kevlar is fireproof so firefighters have it in their suits. Police and police dog officers, have it in their vests, politicians and the president wear it, so they are protected from bullets and other deadly objects. Kevlar has “saved millions of lives around the world”. As, you can see Stephanie Kwolek invented a very important fiber.

Jamestown, Virginia is an important historical site. Jamestown was founded on April 26, 1607 as the settlers built a fort on the island and named it after their king, James. “Jamestown became the first successful, permanent English settlement in the new world.” When the settlers arrived, water was unsafe to drink, and food was very scarce. John Smith, a military man, became head of the colony in 1608. The Algonquin speaking people lived there and John Smith traded with the Indians and later he and the daughter of the chief became friends. Their new representative government was no longer a monarchy, it allowed people to choose leaders that they felt represented them. Jamestown is an important site since it was the start of a representative government and the settlers gave America a solid base to build on.”

Chief Cameawhait’s sister, Sacagawea, was very special to him. After she was captured, he missed her very much. He tried to stay strong and smiling but deep down he was feeling pain. When he saw the children playing games, he remembered when he and his sister played games together. Even though he hated how irritating she could be, “he loved her strong and assertive manner.” He cared about her a lot and thought about her non-stop. A man named Lewis had his sister traveling with him. When Sacagawea and Lewis arrived to the Shoshone Territory and she recognized her brother, she ran to him with tears. The pain that Cameawhait had carried for so many long years had finally gone when he saw his sister. This tells us that Sacagawea was a big part of his life if he held on for so long to their memories. The day they were reunited was told in stories and sang in songs for generations.

Salt was used very differently by Romans than it is used today. Salt is a mineral also known as “Sodium- Chloride”. Salt is important since human beings can’t survive without it. Salt is found in our tears, sweat, blood, and saliva. If our body has no salt our nerves, cells, and muscles can’t function correctly. The Romans used salt in many ways. The citizens were paid in salt blocks but, now we are payed in cash. Romans built roads used only for transporting salt. Nowadays, we build roads for cars, trucks, and for transporting goods. Romans built villages along the coast so they could harvest salt from the ocean. We don’t need to do that anymore and we have homes all over the place. Romans also kept salt away from other countries during wars. Today, we don’t worry if salt is in warzones. Like the text says, “salt played a role in the history of our country.” The one thing that Romans and the people of today can agree on is that salt is very valuable.

There is no way I am going to miss your big game! Another way is Richie brought flowers to the game.
This is how Richie shows that he cares about his little sister, Sadie

Jamestown, Virginia is important because it was the first successful permanent English settlement in the knew world. King James allowed some of his citizens to claim land for England they named the land Jamestown after their King, King James. Soon more English people came to Jamestown. The purpose of the settlers going to Jamestown was to find gold and find a faster route to India many of them died because of harsh weathers but 38 of them survived and thrived.

Salt has a different value nowadays than it had in Roman times. For example, nowadays we don't pay people with salt we pay people with money. Nowadays salt is in everything. Back then, it was only used in a few things. On the other hand, salt was more important back then because if you had a lot of it you would be powerful. Nowadays everybody has salt so it doesn't have the same value it did in the Roman times. In the text it says ‘’As Rome grew it became a great trading center and salt was one of the main items traded there” but now salt isn't the main payment at trading centers.

Richie showed that he cares about his younger sister, Sadie by surprising her with flowers
at her game. At first, she was bumping into people during the game, so the coach pulled
her off the court. Also, it said that ``her emotions were all over the place’ ’because she and her
brother got in an argument. They argued because she felt she was not important to him
anymore. She thought he was not going to be at her game that day. But in the end, he
comes to the game and she was able to play well because she was not upset anymore.

In the biography Stephanie Kwolek : Inventor, Stephanie invented a super strong, yet light
material called Kevlar. Kevlar is lightweight, fireproof, and stronger than steel. It is used to
make suits for firefighters, bulletproof vests for police and their dogs. Even the president has
worn Kevlar. This special material is also used in making tires, bikes, clothing, and equipment.
Thanks to Stephanie’s invention Kevlar keeps many people with dangerous jobs safe.

In December of 1606, 3 ships sailed from England to Chesapeake Bay. The 144 settlers built a
fort on an island in a river. The settlement was named Jamestown. The settlement of
Jamestown is important because it is where America was started. At first, the settlers
struggled to survive, and they thought they may run out of food. They also were attacked by
American Indians. We now know that they were assisted by the native Americans because
archaeologists have found artifacts that prove along with stuff found from England native
Americans were also at the site. This is evidence that when people work together our chances
of survival are better.

Chief Cameahwait was the leader of the Shoshone Tribe. He missed and loved his sister, Sacagawea.
Sacagawea was stolen as a young girl from her family. He remembers her when he sees the Shoshone
children playing ball. It reminds him of his childhood and that is what brings back the memories.
The story tells us that “Cameahwait could not believe his eyes!” When Lewis and Clark (the explorers)
introduced them. I believe that seeing Sacagawea alive and well, healed all Chief Cameahwati`s pain,
because of this the Shoshone will celebrate by singing and telling stories for many years. Chief
Cameahwait loved his sister so much. Although salt was valuable, it has served many purposes throughout history. Salt is a
crystallized compound. In the Periodic Table of Elements, it is called sodium chloride and is
classified as a mineral. It is also a product of seawater and is important for use as a
preservative. In Roman times they used salt for money. Solders were paid in blocks of salt. Salt
was so important they built roads to transport salt from place to place. People need it to
survive but it must be balanced for good health. According to the article “Why Salt?”, “The
history of the world is overflowing with stories of salt.” Although salt is not used for money
today, it is still is useful for many things.

Stephanie’s invention is important. Stephanie invented Kevlar, which is a type of fiber that is very strong. It’s fire-proof so it helps keep firefighters safe, it’s strong enough to protect policeman, politicians and the president stay safe because it can shield bullets. Kevlar also helps saves gas because it can build strong tires that saves gas. It is also used in spacecrafts and skis. That is why Stephanie’s invention is important.

Dear diary, the floor was as dusty as an abandon 1870’s house. The walls were as big as a bird. The fire was as hot as ice. The beds were as soft as a rock. The ceiling we as hard as a piece of paper.

October 18
Dear diary, today Now that I have a real pen, I can write way better. So today was a little different than usual I got to take a 2-hour break. The reason why is because Miguela, the owner went on a date with a boy named Luís. So that meant that Rafaela was in charge, so she let us take a 2- hour break for lunch. She was so much better than Miguela. We also got to have quesadillas for dinner that were so good.
October 19
Dear diary, today Rafaela get so sick she had to stay in bed so now Gabriela was in charge. It was even better that when Rafaela was in charge. We got almost the whole day off. We got to go swimming in the lake after we were done work. We only had to work for 2- hour it was the best day ever. For dinner we had enchiladas they were soooo good, the best dinner I had for a long time.
October 20
Dear diary, today was bad. Miguela was back and was in a super bad mood. Luís broke up with her. We had to work for 12 hours with no break. We couldn't even have any food that day. It got even worst, she kicked Rafaela and Gabriela out when she found out they gave us breaks and good food. So now we are back with mean old Miguela. I feel so bad for Rafaela and Gabriela because they are homeless now. So now things are back to normal, like it was at first when Miguela was in charge. So now I know... good things do not last forever

Richie showed that he cares about Sadie. First, when Sadie had her accident Richie was there to teach her to play again. Along with that, when she didn’t want to get out of her bed he would coax her talking her into getting up. “He even borrowed a wheelchair for himself. Together they would roll across the court, zipping, passing, and dribbling.”. Lastly, Sadie was sitting on the sideline feeling sad and gloomy because Richie wasn’t there. A couple seconds later she saw him across from her holding a beautiful bouquet of flowers. That is how Richie showed he cares about Sadie.

Stephanie invented Kevlar. Kevlar is a material that is stronger and lighter than steel. Also, it is fireproof. That is why you see most firefighters wear it. But not only do you see firefighters wear it, you can see the President, politicians, and police officers in it. Kevlar is used on so many things nowadays. “By developing Kevlar, Stephanie helped create protective clothing that is light and strong.”. That is why Kevlar is important.

Stephanie invented and it was very important to our world today. She invented a fiber that protects the president and other politicians. Also, firefighters and police officers used these for their safety. They named this Kevlar. Kevlar is also used for tires, bicycles, spacecraft, and skis. It can also be used for protection. This is important because it saves lives. our earth would be more dangerous and not as safe if it were not for Kevlar.

Jamestown site is important. Jamestown was named after their King, James. They came across some problems during their time at Jamestown. There was not enough water and food to feed everyone. Chief Cameahwait is happy about his sister being there. Chief Cameahwait is a very strong man. He tried to stay positive about his sister. It was hard for him but he never failed to put a smile on his face. His tribe's name was “Shoshone “. When his sister first got taken away from him he was sad. He put on a fake smile but in his mind he was always thinking about her. And when he saw his sister he was so excited. Now he would never take her for granted like he did back then. Now he wouldn't care if she followed him everywhere. Now all that matters to him is that she is safe. I believe he feels very happy with his sister.

Although valuable, salt serves different purposes throughout history. It is a seasoning that helps our food tastes better. It also good for your body. But, if you have too much of it you could die. You just have to have the right amount. In the Roman times people used to fight for salt. Today, we can buy salt at a grocery store very cheaply or get salt free at our favorite restaurants. Today, people don’t eat as much salt as the Romans did. We eat less salt so our blood pressure doesn't get dangerously high. We also eat healthier so we don't use as much salt we use other alternatives. Today salt is easier to get and we use a lot less of it then in ancient Roman times.
Sadie was in her final ball game. Richie
brought Sadie some good luck flowers. Then she

she made many shots in a row and won the
basketball game, yay!!!

What is stronger than steel and lighter than metal and fireproof? I’ll give you a hint it starts with the letter K. It’s Kevlar TM. So, there’s this thing that’s called Kevlar TM. It’s fireproof so fire fighters can where it without getting hurt and not having to worry about the fires that they stand in. Then another use for KevlarTM is for race cars. It makes the car lighter which makes the car go faster to make the sport scarier for me\=. The people that she worked with were not very nice and laughed about the idea that day. She worked very hard and made Kevlar TM. It’s fireproof and helps save race car drivers and firefighters lives. So, it basically helps the earth and it can entertain people. Hey now you know what Kevlar is and how it’s used

Three Ship sailed out to look for new land. Four Months later they landed at Chesapeake bay. They made a settlement along the river on a island it was big enough to build a town, so they did. During the Rabbit Dance in Shoshone village, Chief Cameahwait remembered his sister being taken long ago. He thought of all the games he could be playing with his sister. The anger got to him, he despised the people who took her and wished it did not happen. Then a man named Lewis came seeking to get help with supplies to explore the land between Missouri River and the great ocean. A woman who knows the chief’s language came to help translate for them and she said” Brother is that really you”. At last he found his sister Sacagawea. So, I think the moral of the story is, be kind and you never know how your will be rewarded.

What is salt? It’s what you can find in the sea and if you boil it you get powder which is salt you can put on your food. Back in the day, salt used to be money and it was more used for payment if it was a soldier in war. Remember when I said "salt was used as money” people who had it were super rich and wealthy. Rome basically controlled the salt business, they had salt for days. Why is salt so important? Well we need it to survive, if we don’t get it our blood presser will go up. Some Native Americans don’t have salt in their diet but get salt from the foods they eat. Salt makes lots of things taste better.
There are many ways that people can show they care. Like making someone diner or giving someone flowers, making a present or just doing a good deed. For example, in the story the brother gave a bouquet of flowers for the sister the showed that he cared . There are many way how you can show someone you care.

Stephanie invented something important. Stephanie Kwolek invented a type of fiber. That might not sound like much, but it saved many lives. The fiber was made by mixing different polymers. Kevlar ® (the fiber brand name) is used by almost everyone like police officers and firefighters. Even the presidents where Kevlar ®! It is so useful because it is bullet proof, fireproof, strong and light. That’s why Kevlar ® is so important.

Salt is a valuable mineral that has served different purposes throughout history. “Salt is a mineral composed primarily of sodium chloride (NaCl).”
People put it on their food to make it taste better. Also, people (like me) have salt in their pools to keep it clean. Salt is essential for our health. Without salt our muscles, cells and nerves would stop working.
It has been used as an important mineral throughout history. For example, the romans had the most power with salt. They built villages close to the sea where they can harvest salt. They also built a road to transfer the salt. The road is called “Via Salarium.” It’s the oldest road in Italy today! The romans used salt as exchange for goods since it was so valuable.
In conclusion salt is an important mineral used for many things
